Dorothée Marotine is a French national and a lawyer by education, with two master's degrees in law – one from Univ. Panthéon-Assas Paris II, the other from King's College London. She also has received training in mediation. Before joining the ICTJ, she worked for three years for the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, initially as a human rights officer focusing on the issues of returnees and later as a legal adviser to the War Crimes Unit, assessing the adherence of domestic trials to international standards. She was also involved in the regional process aimed at enhancing cooperation between judges, prosecutors, and ministries of justice of the region in war crimes proceedings. Prior to that she worked for three years as a case manager at the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, analyzing evidence and assisting in the interviews of witnesses.
