A native of South Africa, David Jammy has produced audio-visual media for the past 15 years and was active in South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement. Working in a relatively nascent industry in South Africa, David helped to build one of South Africa’s top production houses and has received numerous domestic and international awards for his work. He began his career working as an assistant for Free Film Makers, an anti-apartheid filmmaking collective. He then went on to co-found a documentary production company, Weekly Mail Television, in partnership with the independent newspaper The Weekly Mail (later the Mail and Guardian). Weekly Mail Television, which became Curious Pictures in 2000, has produced a number of the country’s landmark documentaries, factual and drama series. David has produced across a wide range of genres, including documentary, factual series, entertainment, commercials, education, and drama. He also has extensive experience with management, film and television production, and development. Under his ownership and management, Curious Pictures won twelve awards at the 2006 South African Film and Television Awards, more than any other production company.

David holds an LLB from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and an MA in Cinema Studies from New York University.
